I'm not going to name her, but there is one person on the fanclub board who is just about the rudest person I have ever seen with her replies to those who disagree with her.

Oh, go ahead! It's not like I'd know who you're talking about anyway

From a rational perspective I can understand why some feel that Darren owes us more. From my emotional perspective... I'm far to dettached now to really feel like I'm missing anything.
If and when I'm still around when Darren has news for us that's great... but right now I've sort of accepted the fact that he's going to be invisible for the next little while.
In Darren's defence... and this kinda goes along with Janie's last comment about compassion fatigue...
There's always this period of time after a successful run where you just crash. Sometimes you crash for a short while, regroup and go out and do better than the last time... EVENTUALLY, you do reach a point where you stop and say... "How am I supposed to top what I've done before?" In trying to answer that question you're faced with two scenarios... 1) Doing what in your heart you know will make you happy and 2)Living up to the expectations of those who not only witnessed your success but encourage it and count on it.
If you're lucky 1 and 2 will go together... if you're not then you have to make some serious decisions... and knowing that you're disappointing your supporters also means disappointing yourself.... it's a lose-lose situation sometimes....
I think Darren needs recovery time. I'm happy he's taking it. I do however, wish that those in charge of his career would manage this aspect of it a lot better.
The first rule of PR is to tell the truth, that way you'll never have to remember what you said.
Enough rambling from me. I hope something up there makes sense...

Oh, that made perfect sense it's just a shame Leonie doesn't seem to think that's important.

Tried to read Leonie's *Dairy* in fanzine 3 without feeling defensive beforehand....and failed One big GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! I really do not like, no sorry I detest this part of the fanzine!
Oh and Janie I have felt the thingy about not having any more left to give for quite some time, based on how I'm feeling myself. You retreat, it causes speculation....and we know how that goes....
Chai I really hope you feel better soon too!
Hugs to you all

Well I kind of finished with the work online I had to do this evening and was just lurking around and read this post with interest Sam. I have pm'ed ya over the dhbbs about it.
And I had to register to reply. I know I am probably not welcome in this bbs seeing as most of the SOS'ers are the ones I have argued with over the dhbbs but I do come in peace and I would just like to say a few things.
I am glad you posted Sam..and I feel you are travelling down the same road as I have. I understand how you needed another forum other than sony for your refuge.
For what it's worth and in my humble opinion, I believe the destruction of Darren's career (if I can be that harsh) is all Leonie's doing. He (Darren), puts so much trust into other people (that just makes me want to go aww bless him you know?).
The destruction of the fanbase (if I can call it that), I still believe is down to other fans thinking they have more power/right than others.
But oh well, since I had my long rant on sony (sometimes you just have to get your passion out over the place you have called home), my passion has somewhat diminished and having played Spin so many times of late I have found Darren again (in a musical sense). His music makes me smile as I relive those concert memories *sigh*.
Well as long as I can have that good feeling about the music nothing else matters right?
Sorry, if I am invading your home turf guys I just felt the need to reply to Sam.

Actually, I don't think it was Sony Sam was looking for refuge from.

Since we disagree on which fans allegedly do that Deb, I'll keep any comments I would have made to myself.
